Inspire, Motivate, ElevateDid you know that there are less than 25 NBC Examiners for the whole nation? These are the volunteers who attend each Practical exam, representing the NBC and grading candidate work. NBC Examiners work to inspire candidates becoming CDTs. NBC Examiners motivate candidates and their peers to consistently do their best. NBC Examiners strive to elevate the profession of dental technology. If you have considered giving back to the NBC but are unsure how to do so, consider becoming an NBC Examiner. The principal charge to Examiners is to be equitable, consistent and as objective as humanly possible in the administration and evaluation of the CDT practical exams. To a large degree, NBC Examiners establish, maintain, and control the image of the CDT program. For most candidates, Examiners will be the only representatives of the CDT program with whom they ever have personal contact. Therefore, the inspiration and motivation they provide is crucial to elevating the entire CDT program. It's important to understand up front that serving as an NBC Examiner requires a major commitment of both time and energy. The pay is poor: reimbursement is for direct expenses only (airfare, meals, lodging). The hours can be long and public recognition is non-existent (Examiners are not even introduced by name at the tests - leading a candidate once to refer to them as "The Lone Rangers"). But somehow the people who do the job love it, and they are thoroughly dedicated to it. NBC Examiners must be active CDTs with a minimum of fifteen years' cross specialty experience in dental technology. They must hold certification in two or more specialties. Each Examiner is expected to attend at least four exams each year. Among the NBC Examiners available for service, there must be reasonable representation of the total candidate population. Examiners must, as a group, be experienced as employed technicians, laboratory owners, educators and military technicians and they must reflect formal education, on-the-job and military training. The NBC will also consider geographical diversity when selecting examiners. Inspire. Motivate. Elevate. Learn more about becoming an NBC Examiner by contacting the NBC today. |
