Complete at least one year of documented consecutive on-the-job practical experience in dental laboratory technology;
or be a graduate of a 1 or 2-year (or military) dental technology program.
Be of satisfactory legal and ethical standing in the dental laboratory and dental community.
The Examinations
To receive a "Certificate of Competency" within a specific module, a candidate must complete both the written and practical examination.
The written module examination is a multiple-choice examination. There are 50 questions on the examination that are determined to be relevant for that modules specialty. Candidates will have up to one (1) hour to complete each module written examination; they may use as much or as little of this time as they require.
There are twelve (12) written examination modules available for testing, within the five (5) specialties of Crown and Bridge, Ceramics, Partial Denture, Complete Dentures and Orthodontics.

Candidates for modularization examinations must submit a completed application and payment for a specific examination. If approved, the candidate will be sent a confirmation postcard and information.
